  • Deaf Enterprise?

Deaf Enterprise is a European project for Deaf sign language users. We will develop a curriculum to teach Deaf people about Entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship is very important in the EU. It is about setting up your own business and becoming your own boss. But also: about being an active citizen, about being setting your own course, being responsible for your own life. Maybe as an entrepreneur, but it can also be by finding, and working in some sort of employment or a voluntary job, that does justice to your potential.
  • On this website, you will find examples and interviews with Deaf Entrepreneurs.

Also: information about mobility, EU funding, useful tips and tricks.
  • At the end of the project, we will publish the Deaf Enterprise Curriculum: a training programme that people can use to organize Entrepreneurship workshops or other training events for Deaf sign language users.

During the project, we will develop this curriculum. We will test it in 3 countries: the UK, Italy, and Denmark.
  • To find out more about Deaf Entrepreneurs in Europe, we will interview them in person, and there will be an online survey to collect data.

We want to know who they are, what business or job they have, and what training and support they received. Or: would have liked to receive, when they started their business or applied for a job.

What barriers did they have to deal with? What good advice do they want to share? Of course, we will publish the results on this website.
  • The project started in September 2016. The national training workshops will be in 2018.

All materials will be available by the end of the project: August 2018. But we will add new information to this site all the time, so come back regularly and like us on Facebook to keep updated!

The Deaf Enterprise Project is co-funded by the European Union. This website reflects only the authors' views; the UK National Agency and the Commission are not responsible for any use that may be made of the information it contains.
